BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, reflecting on the significance of the Bengali New Year. In a post shared on his verified Facebook account, he emphasized that this celebration returns to the life of the nation in diverse forms, marking a time of renewal and cultural pride.
Highlighting the deep connection between the New Year and the vibrancy of nature, Rahman stated, “Our culture and tradition are a strong foundation built since ancient times. Tradition, culture, and human values together forge a well-organized nation. Pahela Baishakh is a shining element of our national identity.”
Calling for optimism as the new year begins, he remarked, “Every year, Pahela Baishakh inspires us to advance towards excellence, guided by the light of our past. The glory and richness of our history resonate in our hearts.”
In his message, Rahman underscored the crucial need for a vibrant democracy today, advocating for a culture of openness that embraces diverse opinions. He noted the ongoing global instability, stating, “The year 1431 has witnessed numerous challenges. As we stand at the threshold of 1432, mere anticipation of peace won’t suffice; we must seek genuine solutions to halt violence and promote tranquility.”
Addressing the influence of foreign powers on culture, he warned against efforts to undermine the nation’s linguistic and cultural bonds. “We must remain vigilant and shed the fatigue and sorrow of the past, moving forward with renewed enthusiasm,” he urged.
As he concluded his message, Rahman expressed hope for the nation’s progress in the new year. “On this auspicious occasion, I wish everyone peace and well-being. May the warmth of Baishakh dispel untruth, injustice, lawlessness, and unrest from our society. May a breeze of peace envelop us all.”
He extended his greetings once again, wishing the countrymen prosperity and joy as they welcome the dawn of the 1432 Bengali year.
