Police have launched a strike force after 84-year-old Irene Selmes was found dead in her bedroom at a home on Comet Street in Melonba, Western Sydney, on Saturday.
Emergency services were called around midday by family members, who last saw Ms Selmes the night before. Detectives are now treating her death as suspicious, and the Homicide Squad is investigating under Strike Force Vado.
Superintendent Grove-Jones confirmed that Ms Selmes lived at the property with her son, his partner, and their children, all of whom were home at the time. The family is cooperating with police.
No weapons or items of interest were found at the scene, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could assist the investigation.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days to determine the cause of death.
