Students Unite in Call for Accountability at Dhaka University

1 min read

In a powerful display of solidarity, students from seven colleges have rallied together, demanding the resignation of Dhaka University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Mamun Ahmed, amidst allegations of misconduct. Their outcry is further fueled by a recent police attack on fellow student, Mohammad Rakib, from Dhaka College.

Moinul Islam, representing the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, voiced their urgent demands during a press conference held at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka College on Monday evening. He issued a stern 24-hour ultimatum, insisting that their calls for justice and accountability be addressed promptly.

The students have made it clear: failure to meet these demands will lead to decisive action, including plans to besiege the New Market police station. Furthermore, they vowed to disrupt traffic by blocking vehicles associated with Dhaka University if Prof. Ahmed does not step down.

As tensions rise, the determination of these students shines through, signaling a potent movement for change within the academic community.
