Standing Firm: Jamaat-e-Islami’s Resolve Against Disinformation Threats

1 min read

In a bold statement on Wednesday, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, vowed that his party would support the interim government in combating a persistent disinformation campaign allegedly orchestrated by India, which he claims poses a grave threat to Bangladesh’s sovereignty.

Emerging from a crucial meeting with Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, Dr. Shafiqur addressed reporters, emphasizing his party’s unwavering stance against any adversaries. He condemned attempts to incite communal tensions aimed at minority Hindus, asserting that Jamaat-e-Islami would neither yield to pressure nor cross acceptable boundaries.

Dr. Shafiqur urged Prof. Yunus to engage with Indian authorities and propose concrete measures to dismantle the ongoing disinformation efforts. He expressed a cautious optimism about future developments, hinting at “good news” on the horizon in the fight against perceived Indian conspiracies.

Speculation is rife that Prof. Yunus may be considering a unity government that includes all major political factions, regardless of ideology or faith. In his comments, Dr. Shafiqur characterized the current attitudes of Indian political leaders as intolerant, warning that any turmoil in Bangladesh could also spell trouble for India.
