Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead Bangladesh in both white-ball series during their upcoming New Zealand tour as the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday named two separate squads for one-day and T20I series.
Despite the return of Liton Das in both series, the BCB kept their trust in Najmul for the away series while all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz was named as his deputy.
11 members of the recently-concluded World Cup squad retained their place in the ODI squad while Afif Hossain and Soumya Sarkar were called back to the ODI fold, and Rishad Hossain, Rakibul Hasan got their maiden call.
Regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan will miss the tour due to his national election engagement while Mahmudullah (injury), Taskin Ahmed (injury), Mahedi Hasan (drop), and Nasum Ahmed (drop) were unpicked due to different reasons.
Nasum, who played both T20Is against Afghanistan in Sylhet in July, was surprisingly dropped from the 15-member T20I side as well.
The ODIs are scheduled on December 17, 20, and 23 respectively while the T20Is will be held on December 27, 29, and 31 respectively.
