The quiet town of Gin Gin is under a cloud of concern as police confirm a major development in the case of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop. A 34-year-old man is now in custody, assisting authorities with their inquiries, though no charges have yet been laid.

Pheobe, 17, has not been seen or heard from since May 15. The teenager was supposed to catch a flight from Bundaberg to Western Australia, but security footage from the airport reveals she never entered the terminal. Her sudden disappearance prompted police to declare her case suspicious just six days later, on May 21.

Two crime scenes have been established the vehicle believed to have been transporting her to the airport and the house where she was living in Gin Gin. Authorities initially launched searches in the surrounding area, including Good Night Scrub National Park, located an hour southwest of Bundaberg, over a week ago.

Today, police announced they are no longer conducting active physical searches for Pheobe but will resume them if new information emerges. As the investigation continues, the community waits anxiously for answers, hoping for her safe return.
