Bangladesh completed a commanding 3-0 clean sweep against Afghanistan in Sharjah on Sunday, chasing down 144 with six wickets and two overs to spare. The victory was headlined by a blistering innings from Saif Hassan, who turned the chase into a spectacle of power-hitting.
Saif smashed an unbeaten 64 off just 38 deliveries, clearing the ropes seven times and striking two fours in a knock full of confidence and clean timing. What began as a steady innings quickly transformed into a display of range-hitting, as he dismantled Afghanistan’s attack with effortless lofted drives and crisp pulls.
After Parvez Hossain Emon (14) fell early, Tanzid Hasan anchored the innings with a run-a-ball 33, laying the platform for Saif’s fireworks. Jaker Ali (10) and Nurul Hasan (10 not out) provided support, but it was Saif who dictated the tempo, bringing up his fifty with a towering six before sealing the win in style over deep midwicket.
The bowlers had earlier set the tone with another disciplined performance. Mohammad Saifuddin starred with 3 for 15 from three overs, while Nasum Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib chipped in with two wickets each to restrict Afghanistan to 143 for nine.
The emphatic win capped a dominant series for Bangladesh, who outplayed Afghanistan in all departments to secure a clean sweep.
