Russian forces have taken control of four villages in Ukraine’s Sumy region, bordering Russia, as part of an ongoing effort to establish a “buffer zone” on Ukrainian territory. The region’s governor, Oleh Hryhorov, disclosed the developments via Facebook, noting that the residents of these villages had already been evacuated.
Hryhorov emphasized that the enemy continues to advance with the clear aim of creating a so-called buffer zone. Earlier on Monday, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced control over two additional villages in the area, bringing the total number of villages reportedly under Russian control to six.
The situation remains tense along Ukraine’s northern frontier, with authorities warning of further escalation as Russian forces seek to solidify their hold in the region.
