For the second night in a row, Russia has launched an extensive barrage of drones and missiles against Ukraine, targeting Kyiv and dozens of other regions in what Ukrainian officials describe as the most massive attack since the war began over three years ago. The assault has resulted in at least 12 deaths and injured dozens more, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.
Ukrainian air force spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat revealed that Ukrainian territory was struck by a staggering 367 drones and missiles, making this the largest single onslaught to date. Of these, 69 missiles of various types and 298 drones, including Iranian-designed Shahed drones, were used in the attack, he said.
Moscow has yet to issue an immediate comment on the assault. However, Russia’s defense ministry claimed its air defenses intercepted and shot down 110 Ukrainian drones overnight.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack and called on the United States to take a firmer stance. He emphasized the importance of international support and increased sanctions against Russia. “The silence of America, the silence of others in the world, only encourages Putin,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
He further stated, “Every such terrorist Russian strike is reason enough for new sanctions against Russia,” urging global leaders to speak out and act decisively against Moscow’s aggression.
