Punjab Kings (PBKS) braved three rounds of light drizzle during their three-hour training session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, as they gear up for the high-stakes IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians (MI). The weather disruptions did little to dampen the spirits of the team as they focused on their preparations for the crucial clash.
A key point of interest ahead of the match is the potential return of veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The 34-year-old missed PBKS’s last three matches due to a wrist injury but was seen training with some activity, including playing football, catching, and bowling in the empty net. While his injury status remains a concern, reports suggest he is willing to undergo injections if necessary to be fit for Sunday’s game.
Chahal’s wrist was protected during practice, but he appeared to be making progress, which has raised hope among fans and team officials alike. It remains to be seen how much he has recovered, but sources indicate he is eager to play and is doing everything possible to be part of the playing XI.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians arrived in Ahmedabad early Saturday morning aboard a chartered flight. Their coaching and medical teams were present at the stadium conducting a fitness test on their key bowler, Deepak Chahar. The test results showed Chahar is looking fine, but if he is not fully match-fit, then left-arm quick Reece Topley could make his debut for MI in this decisive match.
With both teams carefully assessing their player fitness and weather conditions, fans can expect an exciting showdown at Ahmedabad as both sides vie for a spot in the IPL final.
