Powerhouse Parramatta to Launch with Australia’s Largest Space Exhibition

1 min read

The new Powerhouse Parramatta will open its doors with the largest exhibition space in the country, showcasing humanity’s journey into outer space.

The two‑year exhibition, titled Task Eternal, will feature cutting‑edge technology, spacecraft components, and the history of space exploration. It will be staged in an 18‑metre‑high gallery spanning 2,200 square metres, where visitors will move through four ascending sections.

Among the highlights will be the spacesuit worn by Australian astronaut Katherine Bennell‑Pegg, displayed publicly for the first time. The exhibition will also unveil a prototype of the Roo‑ver lunar probe, currently in development for a mission to the moon with the Australian Space Agency later this decade.

Creative works will complement the science displays, including interpretations of space by First Nations and international artists.

The opening marks a major milestone for Australia’s flagship science and technology museum, which has not operated a public site since closing its Ultimo location for renovations in February 2024. That venue is scheduled to reopen in 2027.
