Pakistan Security Forces Kill 145 Separatists in 40‑Hour Operation in Balochistan

Pakistan’s security forces have killed 145 separatist militants in a sweeping 40‑hour counter‑terror operation across the southwestern province of Balochistan, authorities confirmed on Monday. The country’s federal interior ministry and the Balochistan Chief Minister’s Office both verified the scale of the crackdown.

The operation followed a series of coordinated gun and bomb attacks on 29 January targeting security installations in Quetta, Gwadar, Mastung and Noshki. At least 48 people were killed in those assaults, including 17 members of the security forces and 31 civilians, according to Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.

Pakistan’s Deputy Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry said the attackers had blended into crowded public areas by wearing civilian clothing before launching the deadly strikes. In response, security forces initiated an extensive counter‑offensive that continued for nearly two days.

Authorities say the operation has significantly weakened the militant networks responsible for the attacks, though security remains on high alert across the province.
