Pakistan launched its Asia Cup 2025 campaign in emphatic fashion, thrashing Oman by 93 runs at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted 160-7, powered by a blistering 66 off 43 balls from Mohammad Haris his highest T20 score and the first time he had passed 20 in 12 innings. Haris struck seven fours and three sixes, adding 85 runs off 64 balls with opener Sahibzada Farhan (29).
Oman’s left-arm spinner Aamir Kaleem was the standout bowler, dismissing Haris, Saim Ayub (golden duck) and skipper Salman Agha for career-best figures of 3-31 against a full ICC member. Late cameos from Fakhar Zaman (23* off 16) and Mohammad Nawaz (19 off 10) pushed Pakistan past 150, though the side lost its last five wickets for 56 runs in seven overs.
Oman’s chase faltered almost immediately. Hammad Mirza top-scored with 27, but the team collapsed from 41-2 to 51-9, losing seven wickets for just 10 runs in 34 deliveries. The innings ended at 67 in 16.4 overs, with Pakistan’s spinners Saim Ayub and Sufiyan Muqeem, along with medium pacer Faheem Ashraf, sharing six wickets in a dominant bowling display.
Pakistan now turns its attention to a high-profile clash against India at the same venue on Sunday.
