A large-scale Russian assault overnight has left at least one person dead and sixteen injured, including two children, in attacks on multiple Ukrainian cities, officials said Saturday.
The strikes hit Zaporizhzhia, destroying homes and damaging businesses such as cafes, service stations, and industrial sites, according to regional authorities.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, explosions were reported in Dnipro and Pavlograd during the early hours, prompting urgent warnings for residents to seek shelter. The area, which had largely avoided heavy fighting since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, has recently seen intensified military activity.
Earlier this week, Kyiv confirmed that Russian forces had entered Dnipropetrovsk, following Moscow’s claim of securing a foothold there. The region is not among the five Ukrainian territories that Russia has formally declared as its own.
The latest wave of strikes underscores the widening scope of the conflict, with civilian areas once considered relatively safe now facing direct attacks.
