A total of 575,269 Bangladeshis living abroad have registered so far on the “Postal Vote BD” app for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. According to data published on the Election Commission’s postal ballot website as of 10:30 a.m. on Monday, 538,808 of the registrants are men and 36,459 are women.
This is the first time the Election Commission has introduced an IT supported postal ballot system for voting.
Who Can Vote Through This System
- Bangladeshi expatriates
- Individuals in legal custody
- Officials and staff assigned to election duties
Registration through the app is mandatory for anyone wishing to vote under this system. The registration window opened on November 19 and will remain available until December 25. Voting for the 13th National Parliamentary Election is scheduled for February 12.
The Election Commission has stated that it aims to bring five million expatriate voters into this new system.
