Near Srinagar, in the rugged mountain forests of Kashmir, a significant operation has begun involving Indian security forces. Led by the Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu and Kashmir police, the operation is called “Operation Mahadev.” The name evokes a sense of secrecy and hope, like a spark of light amid shadows in the mountains.
Already, three militants have been killed in the ongoing operation. According to officials from the Jammu and Kashmir command of the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, the militants are identified as Suleman, Abu Hamsa, and Yasser. All three are believed to be members of the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba. Suleman, known as a senior and influential figure within the group, is reported to have been the mastermind behind a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district, on April 22. The operation continues as security forces work to neutralize threats in the region.
