In a significant crackdown on crime, various law enforcement agencies have reported the arrest of 532 individuals across the country as part of Operation Devil Hunt, which was conducted in the last 24 hours leading up to Wednesday afternoon.
Additionally, during concurrent nationwide efforts, police apprehended another 1,051 individuals on various warrants and ongoing cases, according to a press release issued this evening. The operation also resulted in the recovery of several weapons, including a foreign-made pistol.
Launched on February 9, Operation Devil Hunt aims to combat criminal activities and enhance public safety throughout the nation. This initiative was prompted by a violent attack on students and civilians in Gazipur on February 7, a region known as a stronghold of the Awami League.
As the operation continues, authorities are working tirelessly to restore security and deter future criminal acts.
