Nuclear Tensions Rise: Russia Warns of Dire Consequences if West Arms Ukraine

1 min read

In a stark warning that could escalate global tensions, senior Russian security official Dmitry Medvedev declared on Tuesday that any Western supply of nuclear weapons to Ukraine would be viewed by Moscow as a direct attack, justifying a nuclear response.

This alarming statement follows a report from The New York Times suggesting that some unnamed Western officials are contemplating the possibility of the U.S. providing nuclear arms to Ukraine, a move that many fear could unleash catastrophic consequences.

“American politicians and journalists are seriously discussing the ramifications of transferring nuclear weapons to Kyiv,” Medvedev, who previously held the presidency from 2008 to 2012, conveyed via Telegram. He emphasized that even the mere suggestion of such a transfer could be interpreted as a prelude to nuclear conflict with Russia.

According to Medvedev, under Russia’s newly revised nuclear doctrine, the actual transfer of nuclear weapons would be tantamount to a definitive act of aggression against the nation. As the world watches closely, the stakes have never been higher.
