In a Thanksgiving social media post, Donald Trump renewed his attacks on the judge overseeing his civil fraud trial in New York and the judge’s law clerk, accusing them of baseless political bias.
Mr.Trump repeatedly berated Judge Arthur Engoron and his clerks, who last month imposed a gag order on the second day of the former president’s New York civil trial on charges of $250 million in fraud.
The gag order has since been expanded to include similar restrictions on members of Trump’s legal team.
The New York Court of Appeals last week temporarily blocked the silence order and issued an injunction after Trump’s lawyers appealed the order, calling it “unconstitutional.
” The suspension will remain in effect until at least Nov 27, while the appeals committee considers the matter. Pending a silence order, President Trump took to his Truth social platform Thursday morning to accuse Engoron of criminally defrauding him and the state of New York.
He also claimed that the judges’ clerks were “politically biased and corrupt” and that the clerks “sat in the ‘courtroom’ alongside the judges and told them what to do.
