Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called for the establishment of a ‘Hajj Management Centre’ to improve the pilgrimage experience for Bangladeshis, ensuring safety and continuous support for pilgrims. This directive came during a meeting of the National Committee on Hajj Management.
Emphasizing the importance of assisting pilgrims, Professor Yunus stated, “Efforts should be made to ensure that not a single pilgrim faces any kind of suffering.” He highlighted the need for clear guidelines on handling issues such as illness or lost luggage, which will be included in a booklet for each pilgrim.
He proposed ongoing monitoring through the new centre and a dedicated website for reporting issues. Complaints received by the call center will be tracked to inform future strategies, with strict actions against agencies that fail to meet their responsibilities.
Additionally, Professor Yunus ordered the creation of instructional videos for pilgrims and suggested introducing Hajj credit cards next year to facilitate transactions and luggage management.
This year, 5,200 individuals have registered for Hajj under government management, while 81,900 have done so under private management, with the interim government not funding any trips this year.
