Naogaon has launched a new initiative to expand access to rice and flour through open market sales under the government’s food aid program. The program began today at 10 a.m. in the town area near Tazher Mor and Bidir School, with the district commissioner inaugurating the event.
Officials present at the inauguration included the sub-district executive officer, the assistant district food controller, and other representatives from the food and administration departments.
According to the district food control office, the sale prices are set at 30 taka per kilogram of rice and 24 taka per kilogram of flour. The sales will run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Fridays, Saturdays, and public holidays. Each buyer can purchase up to five kilograms of rice and flour.
Twelve vendors will operate at twelve points around the municipality, selling a total of nine metric tons of rice and flour each day. The primary goal of this government initiative is to control market prices and ensure affordable food supplies reach the general public.
