The National Citizens Party (NCP) has released the names of 125 nomination candidates in the first phase for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election. The announcement was made on Wednesday morning at the party’s temporary office by Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain.
Akhtar Hossain stated that the distribution of nomination papers has been completed and the initial list is now public. He added that if any allegations are proven against the announced candidates, their nominations will be canceled.
At the press briefing, Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Jara noted that the nomination list reflects several unusual choices, which she described as a reflection of the party’s collective decision.
Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari emphasized that in the referendum, everyone will cast a “yes” vote and candidates will seek that mandate. He declared that the party does not intend to send individuals involved in corruption, extortion, or linked to the Awami League or Jatiya Party to parliament. If such affiliations are discovered, nominations will be revoked. He further stressed that failure to comply with electoral laws will also result in cancellation of candidacy.
