Mount Isa Man Charged with More Than 70 Child Sex Offences

A 40-year-old man in Mount Isa has been charged with more than 70 child sex offences alleged to have taken place over a 25-year period.

The charges follow the conclusion of Operation Xray Wolfturn, led by the Mount Isa Child Protection and Investigation Unit. Police allege the offences, involving five children, occurred between 2000 and 2025.

The man faces 75 charges in total, including 55 counts of indecent treatment, eight counts of producing child exploitation material, three counts each of rape and grooming, two counts each of unlawful sodomy and using the internet to procure children, and one count each of possessing child exploitation material and supplying dangerous drugs to a minor.

He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on October 20.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Shauna McIvor, officer in charge of the Mount Isa CPIU, said investigators worked tirelessly to bring the case forward.
