New South Wales residents could be sitting on a financial windfall, with more than $98 million in unclaimed money currently held across the state. Around $76 million of that total is located in Western Sydney, while another $22 million is tied to the Central Coast and Hunter regions.
Some individual unclaimed payments are worth millions of dollars, according to officials.NSW Minister for Finance Courtney Houssos said more than 800,000 separate payments remain unclaimed money that rightfully belongs to residents.
“This is money that belongs to residents of New South Wales, and we want to get that money back to you,” she said.
“It ranges from a few dollars to much larger amounts, but we encourage you to jump online and check it out. This might be that little bonanza you are waiting for.”
She added that all people need to do is visit the government website and search their name to see if they are owed money.
