Queensland police have charged a Mooloolaba man with 31 serious offences after he was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning at a Brisbane Road address. Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tim Harris from the Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch said officers became aware of the alleged offending “in the last few months.”

Harris urged the public to be cautious when interacting online. “Police would urge people to be vigilant with their online social media activity. We don’t often know who we’re talking to,” he said.

The man, identified in court documents as Mr Valenza, is facing a wide range of charges, including:

  • 11 counts of rape
  • 7 counts of using a carriage service to menace or harass
  • 6 counts of stalking
  • 4 counts of recording in breach of privacy
  • 2 counts of sexual assault
  • 1 count of administering a stupefying drug

His matter was heard in a closed session at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday, with media and the public excluded. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear on April 13.
