Mob Attack on Foreign Nationals in Dhaka’s Bhatara Area

In a troubling incident on Tuesday afternoon, three individuals, including two foreign nationals, were attacked by a mob in the Bhatara area of Dhaka. The identities of the foreigners have not yet been disclosed, but they were promptly taken to Kurmitola General Hospital for treatment.

According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Chhoton Chandra Das of the Bhatara police station, the situation escalated after someone called the national emergency service, 999, alleging that the foreigners had scammed a Bangladeshi in a money exchange deal, leading to their apprehension by an angry crowd.

Police quickly responded to the emergency call, rescuing the three individuals from the mob and transporting them to the hospital. One of the foreign nationals is reported to be in critical condition. The mob also vandalized the foreigners’ vehicle during the chaos.

Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam stated that while the two foreigners are currently receiving treatment, further details of the incident will be clarified once they are able to speak with the victims. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and the allegations made against the foreigners.
