Mitch Marsh Caps Off Stellar IPL Campaign with First Ever Century

2 min read

After 15 years of fierce competition in the Indian Premier League, Mitch Marsh has finally claimed his first century, a milestone that crowns what has been his most remarkable IPL season yet. The Australian T20I captain has been a force at the top of the order, unleashing explosive power-hitting as he tried to guide the Lucknow Super Giants into the playoffs only to fall short in what he describes as the best tournament in the world.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on the knockout stages, Marsh’s relentless spirit shone through on Thursday in Ahmedabad, where he delivered a blistering 64-ball 117 in Lucknow’s penultimate match. His heroics helped secure a consolation victory over the Delhi Capitals, winning by 33 runs and providing a fitting farewell to the season.

Marsh’s century was a historic first for an overseas player this season, boosting his total to 560 runs from just 12 innings. His impressive tally places him among the top scorers, trailing only Indian stars Sai Sudharsan (638), Shubman Gill (636), and Suryakumar Yadav (583). With eight sixes in his innings his 32nd six in IPL Marsh’s power-hitting continues to impress, rivaled only by teammate Nicholas Pooran, who added five sixes in his unbeaten 56 to reach a total of 40 sixes this season.

Throughout the campaign, Marsh has been a cornerstone for the Super Giants, with some of his strikes leaving spectators in awe. Notably, he launched 25 runs off Rashid Khan’s first over comprising six, four, six, four, four, and a single—highlighting his ability to dominate even the most skilled bowlers.

As he reflects on his breakthrough season, Marsh’s first IPL century marks a highlight in a career defined by resilience and power-hitting, promising more fireworks in seasons to come.
