BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has described the recent assault on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur as a deliberate attack and urged the government to arrange his transfer abroad without delay for advanced medical care.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday after visiting Nur at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Abbas said the information he had gathered indicated the incident was planned. He called on the authorities to identify those responsible, uncover their motives, and ensure accountability.

While welcoming the government’s decision to send Nur overseas for treatment, Abbas stressed the need for immediate action. He noted that Nur was currently on strong antibiotics, which could not be administered for an extended period, and emphasised that he should be moved to a country with the capacity to provide the highest standard of care.

Expressing optimism about Nur’s recovery, Abbas praised his contributions to the nation and said he deserved proper medical attention under expert supervision so he could return to his work.
