Mild Heatwave to Persist Across Most of Bangladesh with Chance of Light Rain

1 min read

Most parts of Bangladesh will continue to experience a mild heatwave today, along with the possibility of sporadic rainfall, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The weather agency said the heatwave that affected much of the country on Friday is likely to persist in five divisions Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Mymensingh, and Sylhet as well as in districts including Dhaka, Narayanganj, Madaripur, and Kishoreganj.

Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate rain is expected in some areas across Chattogram, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, with a few places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal also seeing rainfall. Some regions may experience moderately heavy showers.

Despite a slight temperature decrease following recent rainfall, residents still faced oppressive heat, said meteorologist Dr Md Omar Faruq. He added that the discomfort caused by the heat should lessen once widespread rain begins, which is likely to happen around June 15 or 16.
