After a brief pause for Eid-ul-Azha celebrations, Dhaka’s metro rail service is back in operation today, June 8. However, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has introduced several restrictions to ensure safety and security during the festive period.
Starting from 8:00 am, trains are running at 30-minute intervals, aligning with the regular headway schedule. From tomorrow, Monday, the metro will operate according to the usual public holiday timetable, easing passengers back into their routines.
A notice issued by DMTCL’s Director (Administration) A.K.M. Khairul Alam on June 3 emphasizes strict regulations: carrying sacrificial animal hides, as well as raw or cooked meat whether for transport or other purposes is strictly prohibited on the metro. Passengers will undergo thorough checks at all station gates, and anyone found carrying meat will be immediately barred from entering the stations.
Security personnel have been instructed to rigorously enforce these measures, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the metro system during the busy Eid period.
