The family of Jack Davey, an 11-year-old boy who tragically died in a crash at Auburn South Primary School in Melbourne, visited the memorial for the first time.
Jack was sitting with friends when a car crashed through the school fence, injuring him fatally. His family read messages and left teddy bears at the site. Four other children were also seriously injured and remain in stable condition. The driver, a mother possibly experiencing a medical episode, is under investigation, with no charges filed yet. Over $71,000 has been raised to support Jack’s family.
School officials expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, calling for community support, while Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan labeled the event as a “deep and terrible tragedy.” The driver, who recently obtained her license, has no prior driving infractions. Her children also attend the school, and she had been present for a meeting just before the accident. The cause of the crash remains unclear, pending further investigation.
