The criminal investigation into Matthew Perry’s death is nearing its conclusion, according to multiple reports. Authorities are looking into how Perry obtained the ketamine that killed him. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Postal Service (USPS) and the U.S. Attorney’s office are all in on the investigation.
The fact the USPS is involved hints that drugs or money were likely sent by mail. “The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is assisting in the investigation,” a public information officer tells Yahoo. “Any further questions should be directed to the Los Angeles Police Department as the lead investigative agency.”
The LAPD confirms to Yahoo there is “an open and ongoing investigation into Matthew Perry’s death. At this time there is no further information.”
ABC News and the Los Angeles Times report the investigation is almost over and the U.S. attorney’s office will decide whether to pursue federal charges.
