A man has been stabbed multiple times in a kebab shop in Sydney, with another man facing charges of attempted murder and attempting to escape police custody. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Friday at Dawson Mall in Mt Druitt, where the 42-year-old victim was attacked.

The victim was rushed to Westmead Hospital with critical injuries and has since undergone emergency surgery. He is now reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene before police arrived, taking a taxi from North Parade. He reportedly exited the taxi and entered a fast-food restaurant on Jersey Rd in Plumpton. Police established crime scenes at both locations and seized the taxi for forensic examination.

A 38-year-old man was arrested shortly after on Daniels Rd in Hebersham. He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and later to Auburn Hospital as a precaution. While at the hospital, the suspect allegedly attempted to escape by climbing into the ceiling. Police used a taser to subdue him and take him back into custody.

The suspect has been charged with attempted murder and escaping police custody. He has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear before Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
