Man Killed in “Brazen” Daylight Shooting in Sydney’s North-West

A man has been shot dead in what police are calling a “brazen” targeted attack in Sydney’s north-west.

Emergency services were called to Annaluke Street in Riverstone around 6pm on Wednesday following reports of gunfire. Paramedics treated a man suffering from gunshot wounds, but he died at the scene.

Shortly after, firefighters were called to Riverstone Road, where a red Audi was found ablaze and destroyed. A second vehicle, a white van, was also discovered burning in Matthias Street, prompting police to establish three separate crime scenes.

Riverstone Police Area Commander Superintendent Jason Joyce said investigators are working to determine whether the incidents are linked. Witnesses reported that the gunman appeared to fire from a moving vehicle, which was later seen speeding away.

“There is some indication that they were driving around that area earlier in the evening,” Joyce said, adding that inquiries were ongoing into whether more than one person was involved.

The victim, believed to be in his mid-30s, has not yet been formally identified. Police said he may have been out for a walk and was thought to live locally.

Authorities are now hunting the gunman and have appealed for information from the public.
