After a lady suffered severe head injuries and a man was discovered dead in a property north of Brisbane, homicide investigators have charged a man with murder.
When police arrived at a Burpengary East property on Thursday morning to do a welfare check, they discovered two elderly victims who had suffered severe head injuries.
The man was declared dead at the scene while the 71-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
The woman remained in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition on Thursday night.
A 26-year-old Beachmere man was taken into custody after he waited at the property for police.
Police charged the man on Thursday night with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.
He was refused police bail to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Friday.
Detective Inspector David Harbison said it was not a domestic violence-related incident and the 26-year-old man was not previously known to the victims.
