Malaysia has introduced visa-free entry for citizens of Myanmar, allowing them to stay for up to 14 days. The announcement came from the Malaysian Embassy in Yangon, which said the new policy is aimed at making travel easier for Myanmar nationals.
The embassy clarified that immigration officers will make the final decision on entry, meaning visa-free access is not guaranteed. The program applies only to tourism and excludes travelers intending to remain in Malaysia illegally.
Conditions for Entry
- Passports must be valid for at least six months
- Travelers must carry an extra passport-sized photo
- Proof of hotel booking or accommodation address is required
- A return flight ticket must be presented
- At least 1,000 US dollars in “show money” must be available for inspection if requested by immigration authorities
The move is being seen as a significant step toward easing travel for Myanmar citizens.
