Actress Malaika Arora, who recently celebrated her 50th birthday, continues to stun fans with her timeless beauty and elegance. While she receives endless compliments for her glamorous looks, she also faces trolling on social media often targeted for her age, personal life, or choices.
In a candid conversation with Hindustan Times, Malaika shared how she deals with negativity online: “I’ve learned to focus on my truth, and I don’t let negativity decide my self-worth. Trolls will be trolls, but I choose not to engage with that toxicity. My family, friends, and my own peace of mind matter more.”
Throughout her journey, she has faced criticism whether for her separation from Arbaaz Khan, raising her son Arhaan as a single mother, or embracing love again. Yet she remains firm in her belief that none of this defines her.
Malaika also reflected on her career, admitting that acting never gave her the same thrill as dance: “It’s true, acting never gave me the same rush as performing a dance number. Dance feels like home to me.”
She further addressed the evolution of the much-debated “item numbers”, saying: “Definitely, the label ‘item number’ felt a bit limiting. But today I see so many artistes taking it as a creative challenge. The focus is more on performance, concept, and how a song fits into the narrative, instead of just being a visual treat. There’s more respect for what goes into making these numbers.”
Her words highlight both her resilience in the face of criticism and her passion for dance, which continues to define her artistic journey.
