New revelations have emerged connecting the son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajib Wajed Joy, to two lavish properties in Virginia. According to official sources, authorities are now investigating these assets as part of a broader effort to uncover hidden wealth hidden behind a polished public image.
An inquiry by the Anti-Corruption Commission has revealed that these properties have not been declared in any income tax filings in Bangladesh. Analysis indicates that the combined value of the two homes is approximately fifty-three crore twenty-one lakh sixty-one thousand taka.
Despite the significant valuation, there has been no official disclosure or transparency regarding these assets. Following the discovery of the properties in Virginia, investigators have begun verifying details and have moved to seize the assets. Based on the submitted addresses and related information, the commission plans to file a petition in a Bangladeshi court by July 24 seeking the assets’ confiscation.
Once the court issues a ruling, legal proceedings will continue in the United States, where the government may ultimately seize the properties. It is worth noting that in May 2014, reports surfaced that Joy had purchased a property in his ex-wife Christina Wajed’s name.
