Leonardo DiCaprio Endorses Kamala Harris for President

Oscar-winning actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio has publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the U.S. presidency, underscoring the urgent need for climate action as a pivotal issue for the country’s future.

DiCaprio took to Instagram on Thursday to share his support, connecting recent extreme weather events, including devastating hurricanes, to climate change, and warning of the consequences of inaction.

In his video message, DiCaprio criticized former President Donald Trump for his stance on climate issues, accusing him of “denying the science” and dismantling environmental protections. The actor highlighted Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord and his promises to ease regulations on the oil and gas industry in exchange for substantial financial support. “Donald Trump continues to deny the facts,” DiCaprio stated, emphasizing that the country cannot afford to regress on critical climate policies.

Expressing his reasons for backing Harris, DiCaprio described her as a committed leader in the fight against climate change. He praised her role in championing the Inflation Reduction Act, a landmark climate policy, and her ambitious plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. “Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy,” he said. “We need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet, and ourselves. That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris.”

DiCaprio also highlighted Harris’s vision for building a green economy that could create sustainable jobs and protect the environment. He called on his followers to support her, noting that under her leadership, the U.S. has set unprecedented climate goals that, he believes, are crucial for the country’s future.

The actor concluded his message with a call to action: “Join me in voting for Kamala Harris on Nov. 5, because we cannot afford to go backwards.”

With the election fast approaching, Harris has garnered endorsements from other prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, and George Clooney. Their collective support signals a strong celebrity backing for Harris as she positions climate change at the forefront of her campaign.
