Kate Winslet has offered her clearest signal yet that Mare of Easttown may return, revealing that filming would likely begin in 2027. She said the new season would not be shot this year and that there is a strong chance production will take place sometime in 2027.
The acclaimed crime drama earned sixteen Emmy nominations in 2021 and won four, including Outstanding Lead Actress for Winslet. Talks about reviving the series have surfaced on and off over the years, but this is the first time Winslet herself has shared a concrete update. She has been focused on her directorial debut, Goodbye June, starring Helen Mirren.
Winslet said the series was originally created as a single season. She described it as “done and dusted” until new discussions emerged while she was in London editing her film. Those conversations, she said, were serious enough to make her believe a return is now genuinely possible.
