Kasey Chambers Wins Big at Golden Guitars with Heartfelt ‘Divorce Song’

2 min read

Australian country music icon Kasey Chambers has added to her remarkable legacy, taking home multiple honours at the Golden Guitar Awards after her emotional track The Divorce Song captured audiences and judges alike. Written and recorded with her ex‑husband Shane Nicholson, the song won both Song of the Year and Single of the Year on Saturday night.

Chambers joked during her acceptance speech that if she and Nicholson had known divorce would be such a “career move,” they might have considered it earlier. Despite the humour, she described the win as deeply meaningful.

The celebrated singer also secured Alt Country Album of the Year, bringing her career tally to an impressive 28 Golden Guitars. Chambers thanked Nicholson warmly, calling him one of her favourite songwriters and acknowledging how special it was that he collaborated with her on such a personal track.

The Wolfe Brothers Dominate with Five Awards
Tasmanian duo The Wolfe Brothers also enjoyed a standout night, collecting five Golden Guitars, including Album of the Year for the second time. Their winning album, Australian Made, was inspired by a moment of reflection as brothers Tom and Nick prepared to move to the United States. They ultimately realised that everything they valued most their identity, their stories, their sense of home was rooted firmly in Australia.

Their success further cements their place in the country’s modern country music landscape.
