The July Memorial Museum is scheduled to be inaugurated on August 5, as its construction nears completion. Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki announced this during a press conference held at Ganabhaban today, stating that preparations are underway for the official opening.

Farooki explained, “The museum will open to the public on August 5, but it will be fully accessible to visitors later.” He emphasized that the museum aims to provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of why the July Revolution occurred, highlighting the memories of the Awami League’s misrule and the mass uprising.

The Adviser also mentioned that while the court will conduct the trial of Sheikh Hasina and her associates, the museum’s purpose is to allow visitors to form their own judgments about her actions. He added that a legal framework will be established to ensure proper management and maintenance of the museum.

Several officials, including Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, and Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, were present at the event.

The museum will feature a range of materials such as photographs of the July uprising, memorials, martyrs’ clothing, letters, important documents, newspaper clippings from the time, audio-visual recordings, and other artifacts. It will also highlight the escape scene of Sheikh Hasina; the controversial figure associated with the uprising.

The July Memorial Museum will be integrated into the Bangladesh National Museum, serving as a significant site for remembering and understanding this pivotal chapter in the country’s history.
