JUCSU Election Enters Third Day Amid Delays and Tensions

Savar: The Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election has entered its third day, with vote counting still underway and results for key posts yet to be declared.

Independent candidate Jitu is currently leading in the race for vice‑president, according to partial tallies. The unusually slow counting process has drawn criticism from student groups, with some alleging mismanagement and unnecessary delays.

University authorities say the extended process is due to the “unprecedented workload” of handling ballots from multiple halls and faculties. Vice‑Chancellor Professor Md. Nurul Alam has expressed support for election staff, urging patience and assuring that transparency will be maintained.

The election the first in years has been closely watched due to its potential impact on campus politics, with major student organizations vying for influence.
