Olympic medallist Jessica Hull powered Australia to a stunning victory in the mixed relay at the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. Hull teamed up with Oliver Hoare, Linden Hall and Jack Anstey to claim gold in a time of 22 minutes and 23 seconds across four two kilometre legs.

Australia finished three seconds ahead of France, while Ethiopia secured third place in 22:34. The triumph marks Australia’s fifth medal in the history of the World Athletics Cross Country Championships.

Hull and Hoare had previously helped Australia win bronze in the same event at the 2023 championships in Bathurst. Reflecting on the win, Hull said the team had carried a quiet confidence into the race. She added that they believed not only in their ability to medal but to win outright, and they were determined to race with that mindset.

In the individual events, Lauren Ryan delivered the strongest Australian performance in the women’s 10 kilometre race, finishing 13th in 33:47. Leanne Pompeani followed in 15th place, six seconds behind. Kenya’s Agnes Jebet Ngetich dominated the field to win gold in 31:28.

In the men’s 10 kilometre race, Ky Robinson placed 24th, just ahead of fellow Australian Edward Marks. Robinson clocked 29:56, two seconds faster than Marks. Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo claimed victory in 28:18.
