Jamaat-e-Islami has been banned in Bangladesh. The government intends to ban Jamaat-e-Islami’s wing Islami Chhatra Shibir and its associated organisations.

Law Minister Anisul Haq shared this with reporters at the Secretariat around 1.30 pm on Thursday and said a gazette notification would be issued soon.

The law minister stated that a gazette notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs would be issued later on Thursday to officially ban Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir. He confirmed his agreement with the proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The government will prohibit Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and their affiliate organizations under Section 18(1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, said the law minister.

The list of banned affiliates will be included in the second schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all associated groups.
