The Jahangirnagar University Alumni Association 1st Annual General Meeting and Election was held on Sunday 23 June at the Plumpton Neighborhood Convention Center in Blacktown, Sydney. Tahmina Malik Bina and Rashedul Mobaswere have won the post of MICON president and general secretary. Alumni of Jahangirnagar University living in Australia have been organizing regular annual reunions for a long time.
This was the first general meeting and election of the organization after its institutional debut through the collective efforts of alumni. With the presence of alumni from different parts of Australia, the center premises became festive.
After the election and counting of results, Nibchin Commissioner Mrs. Khaleda Kaiser Mini, President Tahmina Malik Rahman Bina, Vice President Lamia Ahmed Lunia, General Secretary Rashidul Mobaswer Mikon, Joint Secretary Sabira Rahman Rima, Treasurer Sandid Bin Eklim, Cultural Secretary Umashankar Barua, Sports Secretary Shafiqul Haider Chowdhury and declared Matia Parveen, Md. Noor-e-Jannat Naeem, Md. Hasan Shah Ripon, Nigar Sultana, Tauhid Hasan, and Anwar Sadat Moni as the winners.
According to the constitution of the organization, this newly elected committee will conduct the activities for the next two years. He thanked everyone for helping him in organizing a fair and successful election.
Newly-elected President Tahmina Malik Bina in her post-victory speech expressed her thanks and gratitude to all the members present in the meeting including Election Commissioner Khaleda Qaiser Mini and outgoing President Saif Sikandar and his committee. He said today we have institutionalized the alumni association.
The united efforts of all Jahangirnagarians will make our way smooth and he called for the necessary help and cooperation in the future as well. The proceedings of the general meeting were concluded at 6 pm.
