Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced a new, tough measure in the ongoing plan to seize control of the Gaza Strip’s city of Gaza, which remains under blockade. The Israeli security cabinet has approved the proposal, instructing the military to prepare for the operation. This development was first reported by the online news outlet Axios, and later confirmed by Al Jazeera on Friday, August 8.
The reports state that the Israeli army has been instructed to ready itself for an assault to take control of Gaza City. Additionally, there are plans to provide humanitarian aid to civilians outside the battlefield. Citing a senior Israeli official, it was revealed that by October 7, all Palestinians would be evacuated from Gaza to central camps and other designated areas. Following this, the Israeli military intends to besiege Hamas fighters and carry out a ground invasion of the city.
In a recent interview, Netanyahu stated, “Israel aims to take full control of Gaza, but the government is not interested in forming a new administration.” This move signals a significant escalation in Israel’s military strategy regarding Gaza amid ongoing tensions.
