Iran’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, says Tehran will assist in ensuring that Bangladeshi vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz can pass through safely, after wartime disruptions left many ships waiting in the area. He acknowledged that several Bangladeshi ships are among those delayed due to the conflict‑driven blockade.
Speaking on Sunday at a memorial event at Dhaka University, the ambassador said Iran is committed to working with Bangladesh to resolve the issue. He noted that discussions with the Bangladeshi government will take place to determine the necessary steps to facilitate the ships’ passage.
Jahanabadi described the situation in the strait as complex but stressed that Iran is doing everything it can to protect the interests of friendly nations. He highlighted the close relationship between Bangladesh and Iran, saying Tehran views Bangladesh as a “brotherly country” and has no hostility toward it.
He added that cooperation between the two nations will continue, even amid the challenges created by the ongoing conflict.
