Police are currently investigating the tragic deaths of an elderly couple at their home in Melbourne’s south-east. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when authorities responded to reports from the couple’s relatives.
A woman was found deceased inside their residence on Kaye Court, Dandenong North, around 1:30 pm. In the same incident, the man was discovered injured in the driveway. Emergency services provided medical treatment, but he died at the scene.
Inspector Rodney Maroney from Victoria Police stated that the preliminary suspicion is that the deaths are a case of murder-suicide. “They’ve lived here for a long time, and there’s been no indication of any issues whatsoever between them in the past,” he said. Inspector Maroney added that neither of the victims had any known history of troubling activities or prior police concerns.
A definitive cause of death is still to be determined as authorities continue their investigation. At this stage, they are examining all possible angles to understand what led to this tragic event.
