International mother language day observed in Melbourne

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, ‘National Martyrs’ Day’ and ‘International Mother Language Day’ were celebrated in Melbourne, Australia, with due solemnity and dignity under the initiative of Melbourne Bangla School and the Melbourne Bangladeshi Community Foundation.

At the beginning, the guests inaugurated the children’s drawing competition organized on the occasion of Amar Ekushe. School teachers Mita Parveen and Nasima Khan were in overall charge of the painting competition. Dr. Mahbubur Mollah was present in the proceedings.

Ali Nahak, a student of the school, recited the Quran at the beginning of the program.

Dr. Molla Rashidul Haque, Principal of Melbourne Bangla School and President of the Melbourne Bangladeshi Community Foundation, gave a welcome speech on the occasion.

A portrait of Amar Ekush was then shown to all present at the event. State MP of Victoria, Kathleen Mathews-Ward, was the chief guest at the event, and Councilor Subolton of Moreland City Council was the special guest.

Then the cultural program took place. The students, teachers, parents, and guests of Melbourne Bangla School sang the combined national anthem and Amar Ekush.

Dr. Molla Md Rashidul Haque, Dr. Mahbubul Alam, Mita Parveen, Zobaida Ali, Dr. Mosammatnahar, Nasimakhan and many others were in charge of the program.
